Director of Pediatric HSCT Center
Associate Professor Ibrahim EKER, has been performing pediatric bone marrow transplant since 2004 for about fourteen years. During this period, he had been in approximately 150 pediatric HSCT and in all kinds of autologous, allogeneic, related, unrelated, haploidentic pediatric transplants. Also he had been in pediatric transplants in which he had done in vitro T cell depletion with immunomagnetic seperation, in which cepax were used for erythrocyte seperation, in which mesenchymal stem cells were used. He has experience with all kinds of transplant complications. He completed most of these experience on pediatric transplantation in Gülhane Military Medical Academy Military Medical Faculty Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit until 2016. After the Gülhane Military Medical Academy was closed, he was appointed to Afyonkarahisar Health Science University and started to serve here. After completing all the necessary physical, technical, labarotory, total body irradiation and personnel infrastructure from scratch, in a new building, in March 2020, he took the necessary permits and licenses and opened our pediatric transplant center. 17 MRD transplants, 6 MUD, 2 autologous transplants have been successfully completed since the opening of our center with %94 survival with no morbidity. The center, which is about to complete all preparations to become a JACIE accredited center, is planning to apply for accreditation within one year.
